I don’t have a C wire. I have three wires coming from my air handler is my attic and two coming from my furnace in the basement. This makes their converter useless. If you don’t have a C wire and a dual furnace system not located near each other, stick with Nest.
I went with the Ecobee and haven’t been sorry. It’s intuitive and easy to use, a great purchase.
I wanted to relocate the thermostat anyway, so I pulled in all new wire solving the c-wire issue and eliminating the need for a plug/adaptor.
after Nest is killing off support for Gen 1 and 2 No more. can’t trust Google. Guess i’m switching to ecobee
Google’s Nest has announced that it will terminate app support for its Generation 2 thermostats on October 25, 2025. Because of this, I will never purchase a Nest product again. It is unacceptable to spend a significant amount of money on a thermostat, only to have them remove the functionality I used most. There is nothing wrong with the thermostat itself to warrant the removal of this core feature, except to push customers towards buying a new model.
